Snapping Tortuga founded by Tim Floyd in 2011 to provide a safe and fun open water swim race to the Houston area. Tim has a long history of involvement in competitive swimming, coaching and open water swim events dating back to the very first Dave and Shirl’s Distance Adventure in 1991 at Lake Boerne. He has since worked for Ironman as a swim course director and as part of the swim staff for full and half distance Ironman events.
The Snapping Tortuga takes place in Lake Conroe, Texas every April and October. We currently offer a 1250m (one loop) swim, a 2.5km (two loops) and a 5km (4 loops) at both dates.
